After gleefully disemboweling the hapless pumpkin, the boy tilted it and drummed a quick rhythm on its striated side, enjoying the timbre of its hollowness.
“What’s happening?!” shrilled the boy’s victim.
“I believe we are transitioning,” answered the pumpkin’s cousin, into whom a small girl was carefully carving a jagged mouth, “from fruit into art.”
