This week’s Five Minute Friday prompt is “Mail”, and it puts me in mind of when I was thirteen or fourteen years of age and I attempted a postal pyramid scheme.
The idea, of course, was to send a letter to as many people as possible inviting them to participate in the pyramid scheme.
Each participant would send one dollar to me, and then they would mail out the letter to as many people as possible, each of whom would send one dollar to them AND to me, before sending the letter along to as many people as possible themselves.
As a young teen, I found the idea elegant and irresistible.
The trick was finding addresses to which to mail the letter.
I found myself purchasing mailing lists.
Isn’t that tawdry?
